Show 42: Crazy Eights

Photography by Aemiessence Fine Arts

The room was filled to capacity and all abuzz about The Living Room's return from its summer hiatus! It was 8/8/08, dubbed The Night of Crazy Eights, named after a card game that little people know about and fewer people play.

Host of Honor Matt Little skillfully introduced:

Amy Crossfield
Leo Allen
Abbi Crutchfield
Josh Homer
Mike Dobbins

with special guest appearances by Shock Therapy and Reverend Pastor Gardner.

Abbi and Luke welcomed viewers to the forty-second show and marveled at all of the amazing projects they've been able to accomplish during the break. From appearances on MTV to working with Olympic NBA all-stars, Luke had a lot to be jealous about. He balanced the scale with a screening of a hilarious short called Indecent Proposals (about the lengths the couple would go to for a Klondike Bar from Nick Cobb's sweaty pocket).

Matt Little regaled the crowd (or at least the couple on the couch that loved graphic novels) with stories of comic book heroism.

The pleasantly wry Amy Crossfield graced our stage for the first time and didn't hesitate to share her ambivalence towards friends with babies.

Money-centric but frugal thug Shock Therapy came out to give his take on the news, brag about his job at the movie theater and show off his dollar-store bling.

Abbi Crutchfield stepped to the mic to share stories of being raised by a single mom, growing up on cereal, and the dangers of wishing for Brian Regan to be your step-father.

Leo Allen also made his Living Room debut, professing the show's first public service announcement on the calamities that may ensue atop the Grand Canyon.

Returning to the show for his second time, Josh Homer shared good (?) news about being a father-to-be, and hope (?) for the future of a multi-racial child. Congratulations! Maybe.

Visiting theologian Rev. Pastor Gardner talked to us about uncomfortable subjects in his 3-Minute Sermon.

Mike Dobbins appropriately followed with stories of his creepy uncle, in many a different dialect.

He became a two-time champion when he received the Funniest Comedian of All Time award! Coincidentally, this paralleled the ending of our show the first time it returned from summer hiatus. There is no need for his alter egos to scare him now that he has a comforting teddy bear night light (C Batteries not included).

Get your security blanket and cuddle up at our next show August 22nd!

Show 14: Happy New Year!

It is a new year, so we're bringing new fun to the Living Room show! We're beefing up the audience prizes thanks to Postmark and other restaurants in the area. Whoever correctly answers trivia questions from the Golden Box of Knowledge takes home a gift! Submit your questions at the beginning of each week's show and win at the end! This lucky man was the first to win, and could not have possibly held that bagel in a worse spot.

Brendan Fitzgibbons came back from vacation to host and inform us of his New Year's Resolutions, a.k.a. Things he will never ever do again.

He also resolved to introduce the excellence that is:
Abbi Crutchfield
Matt Little
Nick Cobb and
JL Cauvin

Abbi opened the show with her resolution not to re-gift. But then no-one would ever get an F-CAT award...Matt Little busted out on the scene for his second appearance at the show. He even interrupted the set to have a heart-to-heart with an audience member.

Ronald Trump, entrepreneur and illegitimate son of Donald Trump, presented the news of the future and enlightened us as to what will happen in 2007.

Nick Cobb went up after a thorough writing session in the Green Room

and rocked the room sideways with his hilarious account of family games.

The honorable Billy Simmons (a.k.a. Whitey X) shared his single resolution pertaining to his membership of the Nation of Islam

J.L. gave us his two cents on the war in Iraq which was like no other cents you'll ever hear jingling in the cup of your local panhandler.

The New Year's Baby toddled in to shake his diaper at the next winner of the Funniest Comedian of All Time award! Matt Little was so happy to win, he picked the Baby up!

He took home a vintage, authentic Lisa Frank pencil box complete with drawers to hide all his little secrets.

This man had a wonderful time, and you will too at our next show on January 26th!

Postmark Cafe now features coffee art! If you like bunnies on your lattes. They're Jen's specialty.

Show 7: A Shot in the Dark

A mess of kids crowded around the shop’s window this week proving parental supervision is at an all-time low in the city. Luke wore a shirt with Peter Sellers on the front in honor of the legend’s birthday. He kicked off the evening with a true tale of getting (old) man-handled, and prepared everyone for a great night. The stars of this week’s show were:
Matt Little
Lance Weiss and
Becky Ciletti

The 'tweens went home for dinner (the call of the tater tot) and Matt Little explored the hilarious meaning of couple hood. This week’s Rental Review was by Tosha Styles, a temp with other aspirations who ultimately gave Finding Neverland a thumb down because Johnny Depp does not play a pirate.

Lance Weiss learned a couple of new languages from an enthusiastic audience member and gave an animated performance, treating everyone to high-fives on his way off stage.
Classic comedian Vaudeville Lou paid a visit to read his take on what’s in the papers today.

Becky Ciletti followed with a dynamite set and engaged the crowd with Internet observations.

Abbi closed the show with a 1-Minute Workout flexing her thoughts on public television and the programs made possible by viewers like YOU.

Since Lance Weiss is indisputably the Funniest Comedian of All Time, we honored him with the 2004 Zagat guide to dining in Lower Manhattan. We just hope the restaurants in that book still exist.

The Monty Hall audience award was offered in the style of Let’s Make a Deal, and two coupons for sweets were traded for dental floss.

Take that, American Dental Association! And take your BFF to our next show on September 22nd!
